1999 Suzuki LTF 500F Quadrunner Stator?
#1
Anyone know what this might be?
My sons quad keeps getting low battery power.
He can charge his battery and it will run for a few days.
Use to be once it got hot, it would just shut down.
Well we had the carb rebuilt, and now the battery keeps dying on him.
I can tow him with my ATV and it will start again, but after a hundred yards or so it will just start to backfire, and die again.
All the lights are dim, and not enough power to start the machine.
Does anyone know what this might be? Is it the stator?
Does anyone have a service manual for one of these?
I don't even know how to check the stator.
Thanks in advance.
Jay

Did you ever find an answer to your problem? I have a '99 and it is doing the same thing. I was going to replace the stator, but didn't want to right away, as they are fairly expensive guess
Thanks

Yes I actually got to the bottom of it.
It was corroded wires in most of the electrical.
I took it into the dealer I go to and he promised me it was the carb. He then rebuilt the carb. and gave it back to me.
I called him as soon as I got home, and told him it was doing the same thing as soon as it got warm.
I took it back and his tech went through the wiring and found a mass of corrosion and cleaned it all up, and problem was solved.
Most of the corrosion was in the wires going to the stator.
