You have some nerve taking off to Bar Harbor when I'm having a Zuki Roast! hahahaha!!

* Well, some people like to relax biking, hiking, and partying, some like to work on their atv

Now, on a serious note. I cannot find a thing wrong, and decided there just may be something to this ignition switch that others have mentioned. In fact, I had a long conversation with a dealer (NOT the SOB that ripped me off), and he said the older Suzuki's did have an ignition switch problem. So, I ordered the switch from him and it should be in tomorrow. The price was the same as I found online by the time I paid the shipping... less the tax.

I'll let you know how that works out, but personally, I don't have much hope.

* Me neither...

Are you studying that Clymer book????? Got any new tests? I just may need them!

* Here's one to test your pickup coil: Black/Yellow(at the CDI but on the harness side, not the one you've been unplugging) to Green/White should be 100-200 ohms.

Hey Ken.....

Could you explain in detail how to hook up the probes for this test? I am so afraid of frying my CDI, Regulator/Rectifier, etc.

Thanks,
Jackie (feeling like a clutz)

Just plug one lead on your meter into each and measure the resistance. You are going through the meter, not putting any voltage/current through those wires, so no chance of frying anything.

I don't have a Blue/Yellow at the CDI. I have a solid blue, and I tested that to the black wire and got 125.4 ohms again.

right/wrong? good/bad?

next?

Well, the magneto looks ok. But I would repeat those last two tests and jiggle the wires/connectors around looking for variation.

I would also check for pins that are not seated properly (like you found before). If you can get your leads on both sides of a connector I would ohm each pin to pin to check contact resistance on the CDI connector.

Between what's been replaced and what we've checked that's the whole ignition system...

Thanks Ken,

I'll do just that in the morning and let you know if anything changes. Thanks again for your help. Oh, BTW, my last trip to the garage spooked a deer feeding on apples about 15 feet away from me. He snorted loudly and I darn near wet my pants! I hate when that happens! LOL!

Thanks again :-)
