lol im talking about this for a 2 stroke and RIGHT after start up for the first time, i dont have it like this very long, no its not bad alot of my buddys who race motocross do this same thing, take there bike from the shop brand new rebuilt and say its a 1 hr ride the fire it up set the idle a little high then take off down the road and then the race it full speed, ive also seen alot of people on blasters do this method also, some people have some vids on youtube doing this, i knew this topic would bring in alot people trying to argue this, have at it.

Especialy 450's which have those little slipper pistons that tolerate alot of Compression blow by, after which dilutes your oil. Which is why frequent oil changes and valve adjustments are needed to keep your 450 in top shape.

I would follow the link that was posted earlier. That guy has alot of credibility. After the break in clean the filter and change the oil.

X2 On a fresh rebuild there is a possibility of fine metal shavings circulating around. It is very important that you change the oil and filter during the break in. I recommend about 2 in the first 10 hours, a third in the next 10 hours. That will ensure that if there are any shavings left from the rebuild, they will be washed out.

Ive seen it done both ways. I took it easy on my 2002 500 for the 1st 100 miles(10hrs) and the bike has almost 4,000 miles on it now and its never had an issue, still runs strong. My friends have unloaded their bikes and ran them hard from day one and they still run strong. Engines are designed totally different these days. everything is more precise fit. I say run it how ever you want because i have never heard of someone blowing their engine up because they didnt break it in right. Ive heard them blow them up because of neglect, they would run them with not enough oil,or run them full throttle for 20 minutes in 2ft of mud,ect...Either way, just make sure the oil and filter gets changed on a regular basis and it will last a very long time. good luck
