Anyone Tried the "Thermo Switch?"

I had just looked at that before you posted it. 27 below isn't bad in MN, although the way its been lately....who knows! lol
This review on RM-ATV made me a little nervous:
Terrible Waste of Money!

I have an '06 LTR 450 and I originally used Ford/Motorcaft 50/50 coolant. I switched to Engine Ice to see if I could get it to run cooler but it made it run hotter. The bottle says it's good to -26F but when I tested it with a hydrometer it was only good to +10F.
Most other reviews said they didn't feel much of a performance increase, just maybe a spec cooler running engine.
If I can find it locally, I might get it, but as it stands, it doesn't seem quite worth it from a cost and convenience stand-point.

At the time, everyone was saying to stay away from any 50/50 mix of water and traditional antifreeze and someone recommended Engine Ice to me. That was back in 2006 I believe and I've not had any problems yet...... and it gets very cold here in NY, well below 10F....We usually get at least a few sub-zero days every year......
One of the benefits of Engine Ice too is that it is so much lighter compared to antifreeze, it puts less strain on the water pump.....But any high performance coolant will do the same.
I wonder if perhaps this person did not flush their system totally before putting in the Ice. Because if there was some water left in there as it will pool in the lower areas, that would raise the freeze temp a lot....... I have not stuck a hydrometer into mine to test it, but I can. I'm pretty sure Engine Ice would not be lying about that because they would not have many customers after the first 1000 engines were ruined after freezing......

OK, I installed the thermal switch this past weekend and went riding on Saturday. It was pretty darned hot too. I think I noticed that the fan was coming on more often, but the butt dyno didn't show any improvement in power (that I could notice).
Although this was only a $20 mod, removing the filter lid and rejetting the main with a 155 or 160 Mikuni is still the best bang for the buck mod.
