85 suzuki 250r no spark! replaced coil and

Default 85 suzuki 250r no spark! replaced coil and

cdi. new plug and gapped. has compression. followed wiring down to rotor cover by the shifter, and when i pulled it off there was a green colored oil in their? is there supposed to be fluid in there??

hey welcome to the forum!

there shouldnt be anything in there, so id definatley check the crank seals and make sure that you rtv the gasket good upon re-assembly.

if you still dont have spark id go and replace the pickup. then whatever coil you didnt already replace (source or secondary).

thanks! It will spark maybe once or twice but then i get nothing at all. We will see if i get any spark after cleaning it all up. I am missing out on the best riding season!!

cleaned it all out. its got spark consistently now but the quad wont start?? going to clean out the carb and make sure its getting fuel

used starting fluid to see if its fuel related, still wont start!!! its got spark now, its got fuel, and its got compression. Why is my quad not starting????????????

timing possibly? have you been in the motor latley?

bad crank seals will keep it from starting. if you had oil or gas in ur left case cover then you definately need new seals

i looked at the crank seal on that side tho and it looked ok. thinking it was old water and gunk that got in bc of the seal around the cover not being very tight. How can the timing be off, its only 1 cylinder? how can i check it?

hahaha WOW i wasnt paying attention at all... when i did that last post i just got done answering a bunch of lt230s (4 stroke) questions lol. no timing issues for you nevermind...
