85 suzuki 250r no spark! replaced coil and

cdi. new plug and gapped. has compression. followed wiring down to rotor cover by the shifter, and when i pulled it off there was a green colored oil in their? is there supposed to be fluid in there??

hey welcome to the forum!
there shouldnt be anything in there, so id definatley check the crank seals and make sure that you rtv the gasket good upon re-assembly.
if you still dont have spark id go and replace the pickup. then whatever coil you didnt already replace (source or secondary).

i looked at the crank seal on that side tho and it looked ok. thinking it was old water and gunk that got in bc of the seal around the cover not being very tight. How can the timing be off, its only 1 cylinder? how can i check it?
