Default Z400 rough cold starting

hey all,
i just got an 03 z400 this past summer and whenever it was warm out id have no problems starting my quad with the choke. Now in Ohio that its getting colder my quad wont start unless i spray some starting fluid in the intake first. then it fires up instantly. Is this common or is there something i can do so i don't have to give it ether every time?

05 400 If mine sits for awhile I will switch the petcock to prime and then it starts right up
