Thanks for the links for the plastics parts guys. Man those prices are NUTS though, $400 for new plastics... And I still need a tank. The tank on this bike I am pretty sure is not the original tank it's some dirtbike tank. Unless maybe it is the original style tank, can someone tell from looking at the pics I posted if it's the right tank? I think this bike originally had a metal tank and it leaked so was swapped out for this dirtbike tank, but I might be wrong. Any idea where I can get a tank? I could not find a 230S tank online period. Maybe craigslist might be my best bet? Ebay? Anyone want to sell me a tank? I got paypal.

You're right, that's not the stock tank. The original was plastic though. My bet is he swapped it because I doubt the stock tank would fit with that monster of a motor on there. The stock on kind of straddles the center frame piece quite a bit, so I doubt it would work.

Here's a stock tank, but again, I think it will hit your motor:

1986 SUZUKI LT 230 QUADSPORT GAS TANK FUEL TANK PETCOCK : eBay Motors (item 150417447433 end time Mar-02-10 17:09:30 PST)

And here's one with a bottom view so you can see how much is sit into the frame:

Man I should have scrolled down the page further, I didn't see you had one. I had already got one of the Ebay tanks this morning. Thanks for the offer though, now I need to find some plastics and the front brake parts.

Looking at the tank with the bottom view (the one I purchased on ebay, thanks for the links BTW) it doesn't look to sit any lower around the frame than the one that's on there now, but you know how that goes, won't really know till I get it and try it. It does look to be wider, which shouldn't be a problem on the width, just the depth. So if these tanks are plastic has anyone tried to mod one with a plastic welder? I think we do have one at the shop, it's not something we use much, LOL... If it's metal no problem we can mod it to fit.

Anyone got the brake parts? Thanks much for the Ebay links, when I searched ebay I found nothing.... But I guess the reason was when I did my search I put LT230S all one word and nothing, but LT 230 works great, lots of parts on there, I will look through them. Wish someone had the plastics on there.... no plastics that I saw so far.

I have a set of white plastics and all the front brake parts, minus the front master cylinder.

Yeah, I did find those earlier when I was searching... However, I think I should just pay the $400 with free shipping for the new black plastics from Rocky Mountain, that looks to be the best deal so far, I think we had found some a little cheaper on some other site, but it wasn't much difference, like maybe $10. Those on ebay are all used and I would have to paint them, and some of those guys want $90 for shipping... LOL...

Pics of the plastics you got? are they OEM or Maier? I don't know about painting them, I hear too many stories about the paint cracking... I think I am just gonna have to bite the bullet and buy the new black plastics that way I get what I want and be done... On the brake parts, I need what mounts on the handle bars down to the little tee on the frame. I.E. the brake handle, the master cylinder and line. But it can be any type from what I understand doesn't have to be from the original model bike. I have the calipers and the brake lines from the tee down.
