I,m thinking of getting another dual purpose motorcycle.I had a XL600 and it was heavy on the trails than I had a XL 350 but it was a little buzzy on the freeway. Now Suzuki has a DR-Z400s which is lighter than my old 350 and has a larger higher tec motor with MX suspension.Does any one know anything about this bike? It just looks to good to be true.

the dr400s is a great bike from what i've been told. the suspension on the s is softer than that of the DRZ and E. but all reports so far have been good. they have a soft underbelly(cases), so a skid-plate is very wise investment.
check out www.dirtrider.net & ask a few ppl that own themwhat thier impressions are

The reviews have all been good. Some things to think about though, the S has a metal tank, lower compression, woosy tires, tall gearing, and VERY soft suspension. It is easy to change all this, but Dirt Bike magazine prefered the DRZ400E+a DS kit(Baja Designs).

I was thinking about buying a 350, are they pretty good bikes?

It sound like the taller gears and softer suspension will make it a better for the on road days and my trail riding is not very aggressive anymore so it should do fine.I liked the 350 better than my 600 and both where trouble free but I would of like the 350 to feel more at ease on the highway at 65 mph mark.Do you think this new 400s would not be bothered at cruising at 65 mph on a highway for a couble of hours? My 600 could do 80 mph easily all day long if it had to with something left over to even pass if I wanted to.

The new Suzuki should be more than able to carry these high speeds. It is liquid cooled and a good powered motor. In fact, it makes 13 more hp than a stock 350 did.

Was the 350 good at aggressive trail riding?

I don't know about perfect, but if you are comparing it against it's competition. Yes! It is easily the best on/off road bike made as long as price is a consideration.

Is there something even better out there? We have no KTM or Husky dealers so I,m not sure what they have. The others are to small or make 650s which are to big unless most of my time was on the freeway.
