Need ideas on spark on 300 king quad
#1
hello i have a 98 king quad 300 4x4, that has been sitting for over a year. the battery was down, so i hooked up the charge and tried to start it a bit later, and couldnt get it to hit a lick. i pulled the plug and cleaned it up, now when i check to see if the plug is firing, it will spark 1 time and quit, until i let off of the start button. i can hit it again and it will fire one more time, and quit agin. has anyone ever ran across this problem ?

bad coil? my 98 kingquad sat for about 3 years before I bought it (wouldn't start). I pulled the carb and cleaned it, put new fresh gas in, new plug and she started right up and purrs like a kitten. It only has 200 miles on it though.

ok now it is firing more than it was, it will try to run as long as you hold the start button. when you let go of the button, it will die. with the plug out, as soon as you release the start button , the fire stops

my dad has a 95 kq300 and its a little hard to start in winter sometimes. one thing that works good for us is to put it on full choke, adjust the idle screw so it idles a little higher rpm than normal (summer) and give it a compression pull start. that works 95% of the time for us to get it running, then just let it idle and warm up.
