Default 1986 suzuki quadracer HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

I just bought a 1986 250 quadracer and have spark but to start it I have to pull it most of the time. When it does start it wont idle and when I try to ride it I get a lot of popping then it act like someone turned off ignition then it will come back and run a little then die again. I ckecked compression and its good, cleaned out carb. could it be stator magnito or cdi someone please help me figure this out. Thanks Mike

is your plug fuel fouled? to really clean out a carb you need to clean pilot and main jet really well. when cdi goes out you will have nuthing at all. also chk wiring from stator up to coil those wires will run along frame neck above head make sure you are not grounding out or that connections are tight. also does it have a engine shut off tether like racers use have seen those go bad.

Default susuki 250

I tried different plug put a kit in the carb and redid all the wiring cause it was a mess and had plenty of spark i towed it and got it running and rode it and as long as you stayed in the throttle it wouldnt die i rode home and coasted in driveway as it died and now i dont have any spark again, I tried towing it again and have nothing now. My brother in law told me that maybe someone could have put the piston in backwards and that might explain the way it runs when it was running but doesnt explain the spiratic spark. what do I do now?

I guess pull off stator side cover and pull flywheel to chk stator you need repair manuel to find out what ohms the stator need to be at. Have heard of the flywheel shearing the key way key that would make your flywheel spin on crank. that can be you have spark then you dont.

just saying buy new jets like an entire carb rebuild is like $20 and I had a issues with mine doing something similar and my jets were clean. Turned out after all those years the original jets got bigger somehow..
