battery trouble
#1
is it my battery or something else wrong with my king quad 700?
i cant use the winch for any length of time without the motor running
or it wont start, unless you use the pull starter.
There has been times in the past ten months that i have owned it that
it just doesn't have enough power to turn the engine over.
i use the quad every day on the farm, so i know its not lack of use.
if anyone can give some advice it would be great, its getting harder to
pull start this expensive paper weight.

Begin with the easy stuff.
Check your battery connections.
If the battery is not a sealed unit, check the water level, and refill with distilled water.
Quads have very limited electrical systems. At idle, the motor is running on battery power, so frequent, stop/starts low speed running can drain the battery.
Winches pull an enormous amount of energy from the battery, and will drain the battery very quickly. Stopping/starting without a sustained run to recharge the battery will also slowly discharge the battery.
Purchase a trickle/float charger, and leave it connected when the quad is parked for the night. This will recharge the battery without overcharging it.
Consider replacing your battery with an Odyssey battery--they are both a high discharge (for starting) and deep discharge (can be drained without damage). For more info on Odyssey Batteries: Odyssey PC680 [Odyssey PC680] - $106.45 : Portable Power Systems, Got Batteries?
You'll have to measure your battery box to find the best fitting battery.
I also believe that there was an issue with the KQ 700 where the battery would by discharged even with the quad parked and ignition/lights off. Search the forums for more info.
