Default i took the top end of my lt230 apart and need cam help

I was all anxious to pull my motor apart and took the head and jug off (the whole top end apart) so i took the cam chain off the sprocket and i forgot to make a mark were the chain was so the cam opens the exhaust and intake valves at the correct time what is a good technique to figure out exactly were the cahin goes on the sprocket there are two markings but not sure which to use etc please help thanks

put crank on TDC and position cam to where the two dashes on end are parallel with top of head. you can tell if its correct because the two lobes of the cam will be at 5 and 7 o'clock positions

wire brushing is fine but if you use a wire wheel be sure not to scuff up the sealing surfaces too much (aluminum is softer than you think!). and newport's right on with the timing procedure. and another indicator is that with the score marks in the cam level with the top of the head and the crank at TDC with both lobes DOWN, the pin that goes in between the cam sprocket and cam should be at around 11 o clock.

good luck!
