Default Lt 230E master cylinder

Are all front brake master cylinders the same for the LT 230E? I bought a rebuild kit for my daughters 1988 LT230E but the piston in the new kit is too big to fit into the master cylinder on the bike. Are there different master cylinders? The one on the bike has 24K3 cast into the side. Could this be off a different bike?

so it is electric start? and you know the year for sure? Motorcycle VIN: Vehicle Identifcation Number check the frame vin and cross reference there, incase your not 100 % sure.

i would think they would be the same size... maybe they sent the wrong part? best thing to do would be to bring the part into a dealership and see if they can match it up... you wouldnt have to buy it from there but then you have a better idea, and maybe can even get the part number from them. then buy it from wherever you want that is cheaper.

Thanks, the bike is an 88. Yes it is an electric start. Already checked with the dealer to cross ref the part. They say the part is the correct one. The same part number for all model years. I am thinking now that maybe the master cylinder was switched from another bike. I am just not sure if the banjo fitting has the same thread for all bikes and would fit. I'll go junk yard shopping in a few weeks to see if I can track down a proper master cylinder.
