ok i have a ltz400 and i have a lil smoke is that just wear n tear or do i have a bigger problem?? or is it too much oil or to not enough??? bc i know wat the smoke looks like wen the rings are going out. and it only smokes wen its cold.

 

your oil rings are starting to go cuz once you get it warmed up the rings expand. so depending on how much you ride a top end kit would probly get rid of the smoke (im not sure if were talking can barley see or only when reved smoke) but how old is it?

 

its a 03 model... like just sittin there no smoke.. but wen i get on it thats wen its smokes. but only for about 5 mins...

 

Before he goes tearing the whole topend apart, if it's only at startup and clearsout after 5min. sounds to me like valve seats or seals whatever they're called. I had a 400ex that did that the whole time I had it and it was due to that. Never fixed it and never had any problems.

 

Hey. I have an 03 to and it smokes just a little when I just start it up when its cold and the choke is on. Ive been wondering the same thing I didnt know if maybe sence the choke is on its not getting as much air and burning more fuel idk tho
