Default 03 EIGER R-Front 1/2 Shaft Replacement

Hey guys - I had wire grass that wrapped around my inner boot, pulled it backed and ruined the bearings. She popped everytime I put it in 4 wheel drive. I got a new Right Front Half-Shaft. It's really great quality. Anybody know where I can get step by step instructions on how to swap my axle? It' looks pretty straight forward but I really dont want to go into it blind. Please Please - Any Help

1ST Remove wheel, loosen brake panel assy. and tite back dont remove brake lines , loosen upper and lower ball joint nuts and tie rod end nut, take big hammer an unseat ball joints from A-arm, you can pull cv axle out of front chunk or use a piece of wood on the inside joint edge an hit outward to unseat cv axle.... NOW if its the inside boot open up clamps easy an not over bend them back and break them you can reuse them, just inside the joint edge there willbe an wire ring clip you can flip out with screwdriver, this should allow the joint to slide off axle, then knuckle of the cv joint has an snap ring to remove, the knuckle joint should slide off. then boot should slide off... then reverse order to install,NOW if out side boot do the same thing, remove clamps on boot and slide boot off, joint will stay on... clean and pack and re-install....Good Luck.

Papa Hogg - I got the axle apart and pulled the entire unit away from the Quad - I have a complete axle to replace it. When I tapped the axle, it pulled everything away from the quad.

That's not what I wanted as the 'green egg' (that my axle slides into) came away from the differential I can't dis-attach it from my axle.

I pulled the boot back and can see the bearings in the 'green egg' but cant get the axle out of the green egg-- it wants to pull the bearings out and they wont come out either. (which is good) - I dont really want to pull that out/apart and mess with those. I wanted to pull the axle out and slip mine in.

How do I get that out???

Papa Hogg - Sorry for the delay - I went to the festival with my family today started at 10:00 and got home around 5:00. Awesome day! I have two beautiful daughters (7yo & 5yo) and a great wife. We had a blast all day.

Last night I got it. Up closest to the differential there is a green egg (sorta) it houses the end of the 1/2 shaft and bearings. I couldnt get that apart. I took all the grease out - cleaned it up and after looking for 10 minutes I found a wire clip on the inside, outer lip of the green egg- It was keeping the bearings and axle shaft from being pulled out. It's hidden - You gotta know it's there.

Anyway I got it swapped out. Finally!!

Once I got the wire clip out, the axle and bearings came out as one! then there was a small clip on the end of the axle holding the bearings on.

After that I just had to put it together. The new one looks so much more tougher!! It's like night and day. No more clicking when I turn either!! Thats the best part.

But Papa Hogg - Thank you for your help, lots. I really mena that.

JOhn. Keepin on keepin on.
