Default Trailing tire for Ltz400?

Hey guys what tire do you recommend for the Ltz400 I just trail. Lately been pretty wet out.

Right now I have itp holeshots 22 in the front 20 in the rear (Why are they not the same size?)

A buddy of mine recommended holeshot mxr6 those are 20 in front 18 in rear ... weird but im new to atv so.

Just get plain hole shots and maxzis razrs. they hook up real well and r great for hill climbing and they wont break you

I put 22 " razor 2 s on the back and left the stock front ones on. Works great on the trails, get a little more ground clearance. Don't go to the 18s you will be stuck all the time on the trails. quads are meant to be ridden not pushed and pulled out of the ruts and mud. just my 3 cents. Seth 03

Holeshots or Razrs are the most popular. Each has a few models with a more aggressive mud tread as well. Basically anything that mentions xc should be good to go in the wet, such as the holeshot xct or gncc or the razr 2 or ballance. GBC has a knockoff razr2 that is more affordable. Stay at the stock size. Those mxr6 aren't going to hold up well to trail abuse, plus they will lower your ground clearance about an inch. You could go to a taller tire, but I would only do that if you are already getting hung up in the mud a lot as it will take away some handling.

The tire in the front are taller because it makes them easier to be pushed over a rock or fallen tree by the back wheels, the backs tires can power or climb themselves over the same obstacle easier and do not need to be as tall.

I know its not the same ATV, but my friend went from 22 x 11-10 rear tires to 24x11-10 Swamp witches on his Kawasaki 300 Lakota Sport.
He lost some top end and acceleration on the fast logging roads but it goes places without bottoming out or getting stuck on trail rides now a heck of alot better . He's glad he did the change, we trail ride 90% of the time any ways were nobody can go faster then 30 mph for short spurts.

definitely dont roll an 18 in the rear if you ride trial only! you will lose ground clearance. I would try holeshot HD's, they have tons of tread

I run Hole Shot 6ply racing tires on bead locked rims and I now have 9" of clearance under my differential skid plate. Ground clearance is a must for trail riding, Don't comprimise on your tires and rims the money spent will be well worth it in the long run
