Reed valves were ok, they were metal too. The cylinder head is dark on the top and a little dark on one side of the cylinder, very little, and the rod is good. So where could my running problems come from?

Final update for any last tips from the community, the 1985 lt250r runs and has a hard time idling. When it is running is is slightly hesitant st first, but then like a good old 2 stroke revs with lots of power. This hesitation confuses me. Any thoughts are appreciated. I have to add some details to help you out, the smoke is WHITE so if and there was oil that spilled out when i took off the magneto cover??? And that's about it boggy and runs a little lean bad idle, help! Thanks.

White smoke can mean your burning tranny oil or water. Either by bad headgasket or a seal in the bottomend ( I can't remember the name of it right now ) letting tranny oil into the bottom end. Are you losing tranny oil? It dosen't take much to turn the exhaust white. Also see if the coolant is bubbling while running.

Well when i took the magneto cover off a lot of oil spilt out, i mean a lot considering none should be there right? What about the clutch side seal? And the top end got a new gasket seal with a little sealer to help. Also i will say that when ii had the jug off i rotated the crank and it turned and was got wet with oil maybe?

You really need to get a manuel to understand how a 2 stroke works, and to have to work on it.

I will buy one, I just don't understand what seal has gone bad. A lot of research points to coollant being burnt or tranny oil, but i know those are not the case because the level stays the same on both. So it's running lean but from where is what i have to find out.

It's a crank seal letting tranny oil into the bottom end and then being picked up by your premix. If that's the problem. Since I'm unfamiliar with zukes is there and idle screw and does it change anything? Also did you play with the air fuel screw to see if it helps any? There is a stock setting but you'll need to find that in the manuel. It will also tell you how to PROPERLY tune the engine not just by ear. 2 strokes are finiky and can easily melt down due to being improperly tuned ie: runniny lean.
