Call your local dealer and ask them for valve clearences. I dont know if you can get a comp tester or a leakdown tester. Or you could drop it off at a dealer and see if they can tell you whats wrong. and i dont think you can take it off without taking off your motor.

Well guys it's been awhile but I finally brought it up to a local mechanic Monday and he just got done diagnosing it today and left me a voice mail cause I was out mowing while he called so didn't get to talk to him in person. Anyways he told me in the voice mail that the cam was shot and something else with the head was gone too. Whatever he means by all this I don't know but he told me that it probably wasn't even worth fixing and told me to come up there as soon as possible so we can figure it out. I'll get back either tomorrow or Friday in this post and give some more details as to what exactly is wrong with it and what the hell I'm going to even do with it if it's going to cost too much to fix.

Wow basically I wasted time and money on this thing. Just seen the guy and had to ask him how much hed give me for it so he can use it for parts. Here's the list:
Camshaft grinded down
Cylinder head broken piece connecting to piston from slapping
Place where camshaft sits was broken and grinded down
Piston and rings broken and metal from it down in crankcase

Default Spuddering out

I had the same problem on my 96 but under the left front fender up by the handle bars and tank you will see a fuel pump that went out. It has 3 hoses running to it. Change that out and you will no longer spudder and die. No electricals going to it so idk how it works but it was what fixed mine and it said it was a fuel pump when i looked into it

I think it's time to cut your losses, if that guy gives you a few bucks for parts, you'll be ahead of the game. If it was mint, it wouldn't be worth a lot. You have to chalk it up as a bad experience. Kinda like dating a pyycho girlfriend. You are never going to win on this one.
