Default 2003 lt50 restrictor

OK, so last night I pulled apart my sons 2002 lt50 and found the exhaust restrictor had already been removed. So I pulled the Carb, unbolted the intake and used a wrench and a large flathead screwdriver to twist out the restrictor, this poped out with very little effort..Nice.. Now onto the carb, I unscrewed the 4 screws holding the bowl on the bottom and proceded to unscrew the small jet that i could see, and yes there was another jet under it. So far so good,
Now for the question Do I need to change the height of the needle? if so where and how does it come out. I am very mecanicly inclinded however I am not too good at Carbs and tuning.
My son took it for a small spin in the backyard last night and it seemed to have some good power(he is driving in 4+" of snow) so its a lot of wheelspin but it did not seem to bog down as much. It seemed to be blowing a little more smoke then I remember though.
I will try to post up a youtube vid later for a better visual and sound reference.

To adjust the needle:::
Take the top of the carb off. Pull the spring up and to the side with the slot. The needle and it's parts will push up and out. There is a geezus clip on the needle you lower or raise.**** careful**** with the clip. It flies around the garage and you say"" geezus,where is it" LOL

My point was:: I think the slide barrel is not in correct.
The needle could be fine.
