What is the purpose of the orange plastic piece? It's not on any of the diagrams.

That is probably an "anti-slosh" plate, to keep the fuel around the jet from being drained away in bumpy conditions or hard corners, I've seen similar things in my Yamaha, and an old LT80 my son used to drive.
