Unhappy lt250r questions

i have a 1986 lt250r with a fmf fatty, a k&n air filter and its bored out all the way to a 76mm wiseco piston..... i have a stock carb and stock reeds...... my quad only clocked out at 50mph and the take off isn't good.... what can i do to make it faster take off and top speed???.... i think my main jet is way to big, its a 275 could going down a size help???....... i also raced a trx300 and he beat me bad... help!!

Sounds to me like you do not have enough carb. What I mean is throat size, to let the engine get enough air. We run yamaha blasters with all the boring and stroking, and big exhaust. We have to run a 35MM carb at the very minimum. Hope this helps.

yeahyou have some issues going on there if you have a utility puttin it to you.Is the carb properly adjusted and cleaned?whats your gearing?your ignition in time?somebody could have been experimenting trying to advance the timing.

CC's don't mean speed. Could your piston be wore out?
Even with a stock carb you should be able to do more than 50.
Something is wrong.
