hi i have a quadrunner 160 that ive had for years it always ran great until 1 day it started hard wouldnt idle and would only run with partial choke. so i got a carb rebuild kit and clean fuel oil change and still the same so i want to check timing chain slack and valves but i cant figure out how to set it to tdc. there is no place for me to turn the engine over slowly. there is what looks like a rubber plug under the outer cover on the left hand side of the engine. does that pull out is there a crankshaft nut that i can use? any info would be awsome

put it in 5th gear and you can rock it forward to turn the engine

 

i found that that black plug pulls out and there is infact a crank nut behind the plug . so i checked all my timing and valve specs and still runs like crap

 

Make sure youre getting plenty of gas out of the tank, sounds like youre running lean for some reason since the choke helps, also check the boot from carb to intake
