i paid $400 for mine, non-running, with a hole in the mag cover about the size of a tennis ball. And in the first year of owning my lt230s i dumped close to $1700 in it, not including my current engine rebuild. I restore the entire thing. New bearings in everything, new wheels, new tires, new paint, new plastics, new chain, new sprockets, and a new seat cover. and not to mention a custon made wiring harness with 24kt gold plated connectors.

so goliath182, beware money goes fast, but its worth it. I dont know if you've seen mine yet but the money i spent was well worth it. Not to many lt230's survive intact. so do yourself a favor, always check the tension on your drive chain and check your oil level. and if you buy a new chain, get an O-ring chain, they dont jump off and smack the mag cover and they last forever.

Thanks.

I got my wheels on rockymountainatvmc.com. i'll pm you the part number so you can find them easier. also just a quick tip, 230 quadsports share the same bolt pattern as the 85 & 86 lt250r quadracer.

Haha yea I am kinda lucky on that part.

I agree that is well worth it. Before I got the LT230 I had only ridden either smaller quads (50s, 80s) or bigger 250+. I absolutely love the size and how it handles. I am dead set that a Raptor 250 will be my next quad because it is about the same size. I plan on keeping the 230 around though because I personally love the 80s for ATV's. I think the best looking ones, especially the LT230 and Tri-Z, came from the 80s. Thanks for the advice, I will keep that in mind when I replace the chain, but for now its actually in really good shape.

btw, i forgot to mention the pics in my profile garage are of the first Mistress i built. i just got done building her clone about 3 weeks ago, still waiting on my crank to get back. i redid the head with bigger valves and ported and polished it, bored the cylinder bigger, and upgraded my carb.

so my fun is just beginning.

that was my thought forever until last year when i started the build on mine. a fresh 230 is a beast imo and i just couldnt see myself with 2 bikes the same size that would run so alike if the 230 wouldnt be faster. now, im more into wanting a 400 honda. i figure, if im going to get something else, i may as well get a different class bike. im hoping a 400 honda would be a go getter if i did some modding. i refuse to get a liquid cooled quad and honda makes the biggest airfin there is as far as i know.

you cant go wrong with a honda i have a 400ex right now and i love it and i agree with you i dont think liquid cooled motors on quads are that great a 400ex is air cooled and the motors last forever and to me it seems the newer the technology the cheaper its made.i wouldn't go with Yamaha their suspension isn't near as good a Honda if i were you i would get a 300ex or a 400ex there ideal for trail riding
