Default Advice needed

I found an "95 King Quad for sale recently in a semi-local (90 miles away) ad. I talked to the owner briefly and he said it has 2700 miles on it. He is a 78 year old man who can't ride anymore. What I need to know is whether $1000 is a good price if it is in good condition and what to look for when I go to see it. Are there any things that I should watch out for? Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any more money available? You have to keep in mind that this quad is 17 years old at this point...If you could put another thousand dollars with it, you would be able to get something in the 5 year old range I would think. Don't know your financial situation obviously. If you go ride this quad make sure you watch for smoking, I would check the wheel bearings, u-joints, and get through all of the gears while riding it.

I just sold a 95 wolverine...the guy came and rode it...I think that he got into second gear on his ride!
