Default Oil Leak - 1987 LT230EH

The last few times I've gone out riding I've noticed my case leaking oil. I believe its coming from the shifter. Can the seal be replaced easily or will I have to crack the case to get to it? Also it only leaks when the bikes warmed up (leaks pretty good) could I possibly just need to go to a thicker oil? Currently I run 10-40 motorcycle oil in it.

yes the seal can be easily replaced. use a striaght screwdriver to pry the shifter seal out. it may be a pain but it will work. just be careful.

and when you put the new one on, put a little oil around the outside and inside edge, then find a deep well socket the same size as the seal and lightly tap it into the the hole.
