Default 1987 lt250r bogging at high speeds???

ok, well today i finaly broke in my lt250r so its the first time i really drove it hard, and i noticed in 3rd gear it would make a ticking noise at high rpms, then in everyother gear above 3rd it would just bog and tick really bad, i was told the ticking was pre combustion due to running to lean, so i took the jet out and it was 230!!!!!!! when stock is 240, and im running it with no air box lid, uni air filter, fmf fatty with fmf power core, bored .60 over with vforce 3 reeds, (those are just the mods that would efect that) so i put a 270 jet in it, now the ticking is gone and it will handle 4th barely, but 5th and 6th it still wont, so now im wondering if its running to rich, and if i should i go up another size or down another size??? any info would be greatly appreciated

I'd go up again.
Bog:: too much air, not enough fuel.
