I completely forgot how much fun it is to mount ATV tires at home without the proper tools! I had a blast! Ok, really, it was not that bad.

The tires are close to the same size, but close may not be good enough. Both are 22 inch, but one is 12.5 wide and the other is 12 wide. Also, one appears to be taller then the other which maybe due to wear on the old tire.

Need opinions. Do you think it will hurt anything to run like this for a while when I get the rebuild done? Or, should I just order another tire? Either way eventually I will get another tire, I would just like to get the build done and get everything tested and broken in first....I just don't want drop more money yet

I would replace the other tire. The two tires are different also. And you'll probably get uneven tread wear on the new tire also.

You are probably right, I know I should order another one. Dropping all this money at once is making me nervous, but I suppose it is cheaper then buying a new ATV. I will wait until I get the motor back together and everything ready to go, then I will order a tire.

Still waiting on parts for the trans, machine shop, coating, etc. I started to break down the rear master cylinder today. Not good, it is frozen and I would guess I will have to replace it. I will let some PB Blaster sit in there a while to see if I can free it up. But even if it comes out I figure the walls will be pretty scored up and will tear any new seal I put in.

I also removed the front wheel bearings and seal from the hubs. For those that might be curious, I heated the hub with a heat gun then carefully used a punch to evenly remove the first bearing. To remove the second I heated it again and used a socket. It will require a little cleaning, but they look OK. The bearings....well, the picture sort of tell the story.

I should also say that old mud is really hard to get off of things. I am not sure where I was riding, but the stuff is like concrete. I have to soak parts, use a bristle brush and often steel wool to get it off. I may just go pick up a cheap abrasives blaster to get some of this stuff cleaned up.

The parts for the trans are finally here so hopefully I will get that back together tonight or tomorrow. I have painted a couple of parts and in the process I noticed something interesting (interesting to me anyway).

Check out the difference in the welds on the lower A arms. Done be different people or different machines, for sure. The paint is not really suppose to be pretty, just trying to keep the rust away.

The clean.

The not so clean sort of splattery.

Also, I left the rear master cylinder sitting with some PB Blaster in it for a couple of days. It was completely frozen and I could not get it to come out, even with air pressure. So, today I grabbed it and tried it with air pressure again. Not expecting the piston to come out I just sort of pointed the master cylinder and put the air nozzle into the opening and .....BANG... the piston and spring launched into my neighbors yard two houses away. Good thing I ordered a new one.

Trans is all back together and it seems to shift fine. More playoff hockey to watch tonight so I will not be putting the cases back together until tomorrow or early next week.
