Never figured that part out. LOL
Does it start right up now that it has started?

I put the air boot on and it wouldn't start. Take it off, hand choke it and it starts right up. Won't start with the boot on though. I'm not sure if this indicates carb problems or blocked air box?

I'm leaning toward a bad reed or a seal leak.
Just to make sure, the carb o-ring is in the black insulator, it's not pinched and not sucking air around the carb.
Coprrect?
If that's all good, dare I say to check the reed.
I read back and I didn't see that you did.

Reeds are in great condition, I checked. Carb o-ring is in the insulator and it is not pinched. So I guess that means I've got a leaking seal?

Could be. We're running out of options to try.

Besides doing a Leakdown test, is there any other way we could find out of the seal is leaking?

For the 5 bucks they cost, most ppl just install them and eliminate that aspect of a problem.

I understand. Can you set me straight on Leakdown testers? Are they all the same? 2 stroke and 4 stroke, car, ATV? I have a Blaster, XR80R and this LT80, is there any leakdown tester that will be able to do all of them? Thanks in advance.

Now back to the LT80. Since it started up by hand choking it, I did that a few times. I'd then push the air boot on a bit, and it'd die. I did this a few times, but each time it'd last longer with the airboot on. I got it to run and start up fine with the air boot on. Yay! Don't know what was going on there, but it now starts up and drives (:

There is however another problem I need to fix. When completely still, the quad won't take off under its' own power. It will die at 1/8 - 1/4 throttle. Jack the wheels up and it's fine. What I suspect is that the back clutch (Proper term?) is stuck open so the ratio is smaller, taking away its' acceleration. What I did is lifted the back wheels, pushed the quad, gave it ga to get RPMs up, then drop the back end. Since it was already rolling and had some RPMs, it'd then take off and drive fine. Still breaking in the motor, so I couldn't drive it much. All help appreciated LT80.
