Default lt230s

Hey guys, so i bought a beaten 87 230 from craigslist as a project and a project it is! The frames beat so i found a straight one for $50 but i cant seem to get spark. I tested all the pickups with an ohm meter and everything is within spec but there is no spark. I found a wiring diagram and made sure everything was connected right and it appears to be. Ive been going through everything with a voltometer but cant seem to find the issue. Could it simply be a bad cdi or regulator? Thanks for any help.

And I forgot to mention that I was told the chain snapped and the cover replaced. I opened it up today and everything looked good from what I could see

never heard of an lt230s CDI goin bad. most likely the coil or in the mag. if the mag has been hit by a chain it can mess up the coils and flywheel. but i would start with a coil and check the killswitch wires to see if they are shorted out or wired back wards.

Opened up the mag side last week and everything looked good. I actually got spark yesterday when I grounded the plug. Guess I'm gonna check intake valves and make sure timing didn't get knocked off if that's even possible from ccos

that would be a first if it got knocked out of time from the chain bein thrown off and smackin the mag cover. there may be a short in the plug wire causing it to ground out before the plug boot. where the coil is located i have seen the plug wire wear down far enough for it to spark off the frame.
