Beergut, what do you mean he ditched the rear drums? Did he replace them with disks? Or just not have back brakes?

The front brakes are drum also.

he removed the "guts" of the rear brakes- so he had no rear brakes.
He's an old guy, close to 70- he didn't want to spend the $$ on new parts since he never goes above 20 mph and it spends 100% of the time crawling through the trails. He fixed them a while back and was basically fed up with them- he said they haven't worked in years anyway.

Oh ok I see. I know there is a arctic cat cv joint mod you can do to the back... I didn't know if it was something like that. I need back brakes... that's the parking brake.

Well that turned out to be a wasted trip. The owner said it was a nice 4 wheeler, and that everything worked great. It looked nice in the picture.

I show up, it looked like it had been stored outside, it had zero brakes, and it wouldn't run without the choke on. I guess he either soaked it in armor all, or the picture was taken 10 years ago.

Oh well, on to the next one, I doubt I'll find another King Quad though.

dont get discouraged bro-
I've driven 12 hours round trip to look at an atv- dragging a trailer.
the owner said it was in excellent shape and the pics looked good-
when I got there, he had to jump start it with his truck, it was beat to hell- everything was lose and the winch was out of the atv.

you learn quickly which questions to ask- that sort of thing happens a lot- everyone has their own definition on what "mint" is

I'm super picky about buying used atv's - I posted a thread somewhere around here a few weeks ago on 100 points to check when buying a used atv... i'll try to find it
