Default 2000 king quad problem

I have a 2000 king quad a few months ago I guess the drain plug came loose or something and all the oil drained out I did not notice continued driving and the rear end locked up there was no clanking sounds or anything when it locked up.It starts and I can still drive it in super low but it wont come out of super low.Any Ideas what the problem is or how I can fix it? I almost have the motor out of it am I going to need any specialty tools to get in the motor?

I just changed the cam chain in mine and saw the shifting mechanism for the ranges. There's really nothing to it and I don't see why not having oil would make it stick. All you have to do is take off the left side cover and have a look. I'm thinking its stuck on the shift levers on top of the tank. You're gonna swap engines and still have it stuck in super low lol. There's a pin inside the levers that keeps you from coming out of superlow when the diff is locked. I pulled the pin out of mine so I can lock the diff in any range. I think you should do the same.
