I also recently purchased a new 2012 KQ 400 a week ago and was wondering the same thing. I know for me, the first thing I am going to put on my KQ is some tires and then a winch afterwards. I was concerned about losing lots of power when going for a bigger meatier tire but I did my research and found the perfect tire for my riding style. If you mainly ride trails and mud then go with the Maxxis Zillas like myself. I have heard nothing but good things out of these tires and they are one of the lightest tires on the market as well. A winch would be a great investment after the tires. I am not sure about the different company's that sale winches, but I found a 3000lb Superwinch for $170 (not sure if that is a deal or not). If I were you I would look into tires for your first purchase and then maybe a winch afterwards and if you are not satisfied with your power, then I would start looking at clutch kit's etc.

Yeah, I've been studying the tire market i'm thinkin 26" zilla's wider than stock. Not a bad winch price good size for quad and electrical system. I'm lookin at one with synthetic lighter and safer set-up. Down fall with synthetic is if you plow they wear bad unless protected. Which there are sleeve's,and i heard something about a strap for that. If you plan on winching for work or pulling yourself out on trees carry a strap, chain,or cable. This all what i have seen, or heard is the best way to use synthetic, and make it last. Look into Syn. weight reduction strength all look like upsides to me. There's just syn. and fairleeds for it on e-bay for around $50. If you buy a winch without it,or there's occasionaly a promark with syn. on it already for around $140. I heard the brand is good, and the products look durable. I have thread on here some where askin about winches for the KQ 400. Hope i helped you!

Thank you
Ozzy

I found a ProMark XTR Series 3000lb winch with a syn. rope already installed for right at $140 like you mentioned...I have never heard of this brand before..have you? If so, is it a good quality winch? I don't want to get a winch that works 2 or 3 times and then randomly gives out lol.

I would snag that a.s.a.p. good deal through the company they have a limited life time warranty. There made in u.s.a. which is a plus! I have heard and read they are a good quality product. I asked about it on another forum i'm on and they said there good. Think of it this way the rope alone is worth $50. So technically you are only paying $90 for the winch. I duno what shipping is on it, But if it's free deduct about $40 for that. So you are getting a winch for a harbor freight price. I'm waiting for business to pick up before i get mine,But if i can buy a promark for that price i'm there!!!
