hellofellow riders. i recently bought a used 2003 Suzuki z400. it is very clean has a t4 pro circuit exhaust and a K and N filter. so i finally got to ride it the other day in the snow. The quad started right up and everything was fine for about 20 mins then while in 3rd gear the quad just shut off. I tried to start it would not start it was cranking but did not turn over. The next morning i started the bike no problem . Does anyone have any idea why the quad would just shut down while in gear? thank you:confus ed:

 

I have had a similar problem in the past like this the fuel petcock position was in the reserve and another thing a good change to never have to worry about that issue again is get a fuel petcock from a yamaha raptor660 it is direct fuel flow and swaps right out without trouble. I put one on my 05z and it hasn't failed me yet buddy.

 

Did it seem hot?
Unless your planning on TT racing, I'd ditch that K&N for a good foam filter.
Maybe it wasn't jetted for the filter.

 

You should run the serial#...my 04 suzuki eiger had a factory recall on the fuel petcock assembly. your symptoms are similar
