so I just bought a used atv for a good price. it has 4000 miles on it and I have a dumb question to start. the lettering is wore of off the choke lever. with the lever pushed up I get a lot of backfiring. with the lever down it runs great but after a while of riding, when I put it in neutral it revs at high rpms. is the choke on in the up or down position? thanks in advance.

 

The choke is up for off on the Eiger. They do like choke when starting from cold but it should run OK without choke after a couple of minutes.

 

It sounds like your idle may be a little high. I'd try lowering the idle while it's in neutral and then put it in gear and see if it stays running, which it should.
