Angry 1996 Suzuki King quad 300 black sludge

Hi guys,

I just traded my 1996 Polaris XLT Touring for a 1996 Suzuki King Quad 300. I've only had it for a day and it's been good so far for my first quad. I just have one question. I noticed a build of black sludgey goop on the top and bottom of the engine to the right of the plug along the whole face of the engine. It feels kind of oily but I'm not sure if something has gone wrong or if it's just some mud. Wondering if this has happened before or if anyone knows what this is? I've blown a motor before on an old sled and I definitely do not want that to happen again so I'm not using it until I figure out what this is.

If anyone has any advice that would be much appreciated!!

Thanks!

Took it to the dealer a while back and they just said tighten up the bolts on the top of the cylinder and clean it up and so far nothing has come back!

Just keep a eye on the oil level. My 250 moto4 did that but it always ran great.
