Default LT80 choke question

Hi, since we got this quad many years ago, the choke does not stay UP when you pull it on. I have always wondered if it is supposed to have a detent to hold it on? I just picked up a YZ250, and it does indeed lock on, and is the same plunger style.

thanks!

They get wore out and won't stay up.

thanks, I have not had the carb apart on this, is there something to refresh the detent? It is sometimes hard for the kids to juggle the starter button, the choke, and giving it a little gas, lol. Tho entertaining to watch.

I think the thing that goes in the groove is a bit like a tiny R clip, you may be able to bend it, or I have made new ones out of mig wire when they were broken.

Dammit! As soon as I try to sneak one in.....

No way to fix the choke that I know of. maybe buy a new plunger (20 bucks) or a new ebay carb.
