Default Oil Cooler question

Hey Quick question. My oil cooler on my 2001 Suzuki King Quad started leaking again. I had it bronzed a few years back, now its leaking again.

Would an oil cooler off a 2002 Suzuki Eiger 400, work on my king quad? I know the one from eiger, is longer but its the same thing?

Aside from fitment the biggest and most important is flow, you dont want to have a reduction of flow/size as this will reduce its efficiency. My guess if comes from a same or bigger cc engine id say its safe enough since model years are also very close. Note im not 100% but id say it be fine, hopefully other will chime in.

I forgot to mention, my king quad is a 300cc. The oil cooler, from the eiger 400 is actually longer but not by much. The original from my king quad seem to be a little bit wider, but shorter.

Please report back if the Eiger 400 oil cooler worked on your KQ 300.

I've been researching oil coolers for my 2000 KQ 300. My primary goal is adding a fan (if possible). But I'd want to add a larger better oil cooler than stock, then add a fan.

So, hope it works for you.

Hey yes the oil cooler from the Eiger 400, bolted right on to my KQ 300. Hoses, and everything lined up no problem. The only small problem was because the stock cooler is smaller, I had to make a small bracket using the existing holes to line up the Eiger cooler. Took 30min in total, and the Eiger cooler, is mounted in the same spot as the stock KQ cooler. Used my KQ, all weekend with the Eiger cooler, no problems ran normal.

Domi1983 -- Thanks for posting back the info!! That is really good news!!

I've been wanting to replace my oil cooler on my KQ 300 "just because", but also wanting to add a fan. I noticed that the machine gets really HOT when out hunting at slow slow crawl speeds. Even if the weather is cool.

So, this might make a perfect setup for me. I priced a NEW Eiger 400 oil cooler at just only over $100. A new setup KQ 300 is outrageous!! A new oil cooler fan is high priced, but I might be able to find a gently Used one off CL or eBay. So, at least I know what I am looking for now!! LOL!!

Thanks again!!

That's what sold me on the Eiger cooler, was found one on ebay for $65. A new one from my local dealer was $600, and online new was $499. And when I say, i made a small bracket it wasn't no big mod. I used a piece of flat bar, drilled 2 holes in it. Attached one side to existing hole and extended with a bolt to the hole in the Eiger cooler. Simple and it worked.
