LT50 running hot and sluggish
#1
Hi All
ive just purchased a 1991 LT 50 for my boy. It seems to be running a little hot and I was just wondering if any one can give me any pointers where to trouble shoot.
Also it doesn’t seem to pull very well with me on it. I appreciate that it’s not meant for adults but I’m 70kg and would expect it to easily carry me up a field that’s not that steep. I’ll stand corrected on this of course but I suspect it’s lnked to the engine overheating.
Any pointers would be great fully received.
thanks

Could be running slightly weak. Those little carbs soon get blocked jets, the float level is easily altered too, and you can upset it if you are not careful when cleaning the carb out. Loss of power can also be a blocked exhaust. Not only the pipe/silencer on a LT50, I had one that I was sure was blocked, took the pipe off, no improvement. Checked with another Quad mechanic, he said "take a look in the exhaust port." I did and found a curtain of carbon had almost blocked the port, just where it met the cylinder.
