Default lt250r runs rogh after pilot jet change

beffore changing the pilot jet my LT ran a little rough from 0 to1/4 throttle , almost like it was rich, so i checked the plug and the plug was soaked but not black at all, a third of the plug had a little black but the rest of the plug was perfectly clean, almost as if it never fired at all. so i raised the needle 1 notch and still the same but not worse, so i moved it the other direction 1 notch from the center and it would run on like crazy. so i changed the pilot jet from a 37.5 to a 40 and now it runs like complete **** and wont rev out at all, only pop and miss and struggle to run , but it ides just fine, i checked for leaks arounf the intake boot and base gasket and head gasket. i didnt check the crank seals yet. plz help the 4th is coming and i dont wanna watch others ride.
