Default Air box lid

Hello all,
with the stay home order in place I'm spending time on grandsons lt80 today. So question is...to mod or not to mod the air box lid? It seems like a perfectly good air system as is. I read several post, some say yes some say no need. Opinions from the knowledge base please. Thanks guys.

Please don't. Like you see, the stock airbox does a good job.
I run my National kit w/stock airbox. Thus I don't see any gain.
While we're talking..lol. According to what I see in your pic, I think you only need rollers.

Thnx for the reassurance Jack. I'll leave air box alone.
Yeah these rollers are trash. And looking close at the "pressure plate" 3 of 6 roller fingers have pretty good gouges and the "hub" has a crack at one of the ramps. I wish it was just bad rollers. Eagerly awaiting on package from you.

I was going to ask about the other parts listed. Could you send me a pic of the variator (where the rollers go). I'd like to see what the roller tracts look like.

Jack, I emailed you a few pictures.

New gasket set came yesterday so as soon as I get your shipment I'll assemble left side.

I did follow the recommendation to try "40 chain from Tractor supply, nice diff in size. So I've went from stock 520 to 428, now #40. And using 428 sprockets 25:13. Very nice change.

A question on jets, while cleaning carb I examined jets with magnifying glass and can not see any marking at all. Is there a way to tell the size, and what size of jets is recommended at my altitude of 6500 ft to 10,000 ft ? Manual says 92.5 main and #20 pilot. Thanks alot.

LT80 I am in the process of upgrading my sons KFX80. Current mods, boysen reeds, did pipe, 428 chain 12/26 sprockets. Starter motor gear broke and took out side case and fixed gear side of clutch. Now that I’m tearing down to fix this I am going to rebuild top end and replace clutch parts.

what do you recommend? I would like to get your cylinder mods. Can I vapor home my current head and cylinder? Then have mod done?

I also left you a voicemail. Chris
