1987 LT230S Running issues
#1
Alright fellas this is my first post. My daughter bought herself a lt230s. It's supposedly has a .20 hemi wiseco piston, stage 1 hot cam, performance clutches and a few other small things. It has a 28mm I believe nibbi carb and I cannot get the thing to stay running for the life of me. The carb is brand new, I never heard it run before we bought it. The carb was off when we got it so I put it on and could only get it to run with the fuel screw turned out about 1/8 of a turn. I went to smaller jets and it didn't wasn't getting enough fuel, popping and sputtering. I went back with the original jets (the biggest ones in the kit). I drove it down the road and this thing freaking rips!! All this was done when the temps were 20s-40s now it's in the 50s-60s. When I kick it now it floods almost instantly. I've only been able to get it running by pull starting it. It's acting like it has a vacuum leak, high idle and low idle but I haven't verified yet.
Since I can't seem to dial in this carb whatsoever would I be smart to go with a stock carb or would it not be enough fuel? I've called to just drop it off somewhere and have a dealership fix it but they're all booked up for at least the next month.

Is it a chinese carb? Stock should be fine tho. did you clean the carb? It sounds like it's flooding which would be a needle and seat issue.
If it runs, spray something around the carb to check for leaks.

It is a nibbi carb, yes Chinese. The reviews on it say they are good carbs. It's brand new.
Here's what I did yesterday and what I found since the weather is nicer out I could spend a little time with it. I put everything back together and made the same adjustments I did when I had it running decent. No choke, I kicked it 2 times and it fired up. It idled for roughly 30 seconds and died. When I pulled the plug it was saturated with gas so she's flooding for sure. I'm going to change to a smaller pilot jet tonight and see if I can take care of that.
Is there a go to place for a stock carb for this 4 wheeler?
