Sprocket help for the 2002 Quadmaster 50?
#1
I picked up a new 2002 Quadmaster 50. Good machine. I want to gear it down. I have the throttle limiter turned way down and when my son hits the throttle the quad goes nowhere. I have to give him a push to get the thing rolling. Once it's rolling it's no problem, he keeps the throttle on and it stays going. The gearing is a 10 tooth in the front and a 37 tooth in the rear. I figured if I put a 48 tooth in the rear it would at least start rolling under its own power without a push. Anyone else ever have the same problem? Where would I get a rear sprocket for a machine that is so new? None of my mail order books have a listing for it yet.

Good question? I have been thing about the same thing for my sons 2002 lt50. I removed the restrictor plate after about 10 minutes. My idea was to change the front sprocket to 9 from 10. Have not been to the dealer yet find out if another sprocket maybe from the old 50 made in the 80s. Right now I have the throttle limiter set to allow take offs but this allow for to much top speed. If you find a sprocket please post it.

Will do. I'm thinking the 10 tooth on the front is about as small as it's going to get. I was thinking about putting an 8 tooth on the front. Since I don't think they make them that small, it's going to have to be a 48 tooth on the rear to get the same gearing. to do this I'll have to get rid of the plastic sprocket protector and add more chain to compensate for the larger sprocket. Also with the 48 tooth on the rear he is going to lose 7/8" of ground clearance. We'll see what happens. Keep me posted as well. Good luck.
