Quadrunner Cooling Fans

Opps! I missed that one. So you have both KQ and 4runner. Sorry... OK, I have a SuperTrapp pipe on my KQ. I also have a DynoJet Kit, in the carb. The best way I know to get a pipe like mine is to call Highlifter and order from them. Shop around, you may find something you like better and maybe even cheaper. You can order direct from Highlifter but I don't have the number in hand right now. I can E-mail you the address later if you'd like.

Chuck,
Sounds like a winner. I've been shopping around for the the best price on one. Did you go up a jet size for the main jet when you added the pipe/exhaust?
My cooling fan hasn't arrived yet, or it's arrived and the dealer hasn't called me yet. The snot-nosed, minimum wage teenager behind the parts counter started calling me "Bud" when I was ordering it. I'm old enough to be his Grandaddy.

Yep! I know what you mean about those snotty little jitter-bugs that have no manners, no sense of value and no parents, that would claim to be kin anyway...
Mark, I installed the SuperTrapp and ran just on that unit first for about a month, just to make sure the quad ran OK with it. Then I installed the DynoJet kit. The main jet was a 120cm. The new jet from DynoJet, is larger but they don't give a metric size for it. Instead, it's called out as a DJ116. If you are higher up in elevation, you will use a smaller jet. If you're lower, the same jet as I have. DynoJet, has instuctions for all this.
Their phone number is, 1-800-992-4993.
Good luck again.

I've already got a Dynojet kit in my KQ that I put in this past spring. That jet size you mention is interesting though. My KQ is a 2000 and the Dynojet kit is part # 81-Q307.001. Since I usually ride above 6000 ft., the instructions say to use the DJ100 if I'm running the stock exhaust, which I am right now. So right now I'm running a DJ100 in the carb.
Between 3000 and 6000, use the DJ104, and below 3000 use the DJ108. That's with the stock exhaust.
For an aftermarket exhaust, it says:
below 3000 = DJ112
3000-6000ft = DJ108
above 6000ft = DJ104
Do you think the difference might be the year our quads were made? The biggest jet my kit came with is a DJ114! Just out of curiosity, what carb do you have? Mine is a Mikuni BSR29. If your carb is different, then maybe the difference in the jet sizes is due to the carb sizes.
Anyway, with the Dynojet kit in there and the K&N filter, I sure did notice a big difference. I put a Dynojet kit and K&N filter in my 250 Quadrunner 4x4 too and it has a lot more pep now too.
I've been surfing the internet and found that Cobra makes an aftermarket exhaust for the KQ and 250 Quadrunner. I found it at James Lucky Enterprises at www.jlatvproducts.com I don't know much about Cobra exhausts, but it's about $35 less than what Rocky Mountain ATV wants for a SuperTrapp. I'm still leaning towards the SuperTrapp.

Gosh, Mark!I have no idea what DynoJet's doing. My kit is a #Q304.001. It's designed for a Suzuki KQ LTF300, year 92-98. My quad is a '99. When I asked, I was told this kit works on my model year as well. Seems to work too! My carb is a 31mm Mikuni. However, I still run the stock air filter and prefer to match the pipe to the carb. I have no experience with Cobra or any other pipes on quads. You will be the first as far as I know.
Now that you've talked about your jet sizes, which I don't have (104)and having a carb that flows less than mine, I'm thinking of changing main's again to see if I can get something else out of the bottom end. I'll call Dyno to check on their thoughts too. But why do you think Suzuki, would put a 31mm on the '99 and go back to the 29mm for 00? Makes no sense to me unless they were having emission problems.

Chuck,
Your question re: why Suzuki changed carbs is a good one. I don't have a clue. Does the "31mm" refer to the diameter of the opening on the head? I think there are 25.4mm in an inch. Or does it refer to the throttle plate diameter? Hell, I don't know.
I called Highlifter today and talked to someone named Mark. He wasn't the most pleasant fellow and told me that Highlifter does sell SuperTrapp exhausts separately from their perforamnce kits, but they don't sell them for KQs. So I ordered one for my KQ from Rocky Mountain ATV. What's interesting is that if you go to the SuperTrapp web site and look at part numbers, the same part number is specified for the KQ and 250 Quadrunner.
I was pretty reluctant to order from Rocky Mountain ATV since almost everytime I place an order with them, they either send me returned merchandise (box opened, cellophane torn, etc.) or the wrong part (jet kit). We'll see how they can screw up an order for an aftermarket exhaust. I've probably jinxed myself by saying that!
I sent Rocky Mountain ATV an e-mail asking if they carry the SuperTrapp for a 2000 250 Quadrunner 4x4. They replied and said they didn't. The SuperTrapp part number is the same for the 250 Quadrunner as it is for the KQ. So they really do.
I can't wait until it comes. I'm going to try to put it on my 250 Quadrunner and then go up a main jet size.
And oh yea, I called the local dealer today and the cooling is on back order. I guess it's not that popular an item. Figures.....

Mark, I totally understand your problem with the S/Trapp, you purchased. I had the same problem when looking for a pipe. It didn't ckick until you mentioned, Highlifter, not having the right one.
I E-mailed SuperTrapp after I couldn't find a pipe to meet my needs and they gave me the model number and told me to call Highlifter, with that number. Suprisingly, Highlifter, did have the pipe with the number I needed--this time. I think I paid $214.00 for the kit. Remember, that was last year, March...
I ordered the DynoJet Kit, direct.
I'm sure, if I make a mistake here, I'm gonna get corrected in a hurry. So, when you ask, is the 31mm measured from the head or the throttle plate dia., I'm getting nervous. You're right, 25.39mm equals one inch. However, that's the opening before the air is rushed through the venturri, which has to be smaller to create vacuum and atomize the gas before it inters the combustion chamber. Man! I miss Treefarmer now... So, 29mm VS 31mm! I get a little more air, with the 31mm., at the horn, waiting to rush through and the end result is supposed to be a bigger bang at ignition in the combution chamber. Of course, there are other factors too, that have to be considered. I don't know all the answers but there are some guys here that know the ins and outs of carburetion. Treefarmer's one of the best... I still learn by trial and era. Tree, if you happen to read this, please don't be too critical of me. I only said what I believe to be true. You be the MAN...

<< Well, I went ahead and ordered the Suzuki fan. If anyone is interested, I'll share my experience with the installation.

Mark, I just ordered the Suzuki fan for my King and would like to hear how your install went. Any tips or tricks that you could pass along would be appreciated.
