When I was changing the oil and filter on my 95 King Quad, one of the 3 filter cap studs stripped. I put a die on it to rethread it to 5mm so that I could put it back together. It isn't leaking oil but I would like to pull the stud and replace it with the proper size. Has anyone pulled a motor stud and replaced it? Are they threaded on the King Quad or are they a friction fit? Is it something that I should even worry about if it isn't leaking?

They are threaded, atleast on my 99 KQ. I did the same thing, but instead of replacing the stud, i just found a bolt the same size, because i couldn't find a stud that size, and the local dealership is a total criminal operation.
Hope this helps

I'm happy to know that it's threaded. Was the thread entering the engine a different pitch then the rest of the stud or was it 6mm x 1 like the protruding part of the stud?
