What is the top speed of a quadzilla or your quadzilla im just curios

 

I've been about 70 m.p.h. on mine and it needed crank bearings. I'm in the middle of a serious rebuild right now, so I'll let you know how fast I get it when I'm done.

 

my 250 went 70. i've always heard 79-82 miles an hour on a zilla.

 

Slinger; I'm near Lafayette and wondering if there's desinated riding parks in your area. The nearest place for me, is Forest Hill, near Alexandria. By the way, I've always been a Quadzilla fan!!!

My speedometer reads about 81, but I doubt its accuracy very much. It is a bicycle speedo that I programmed myself and it is very hard to read at speed. My 500 has 22 inch tires, 13/39 gearing, primary reduction of 2.142 and a 5th gear transmission ratio of 0.863.

Using the numbers above in a spreadsheet I have (source: FactoryPhil's), at 7500 RPM my 500 is going 88.47 mph. 8500 RPM my 500 is going 100.26 mph. The equations in the spreadsheet seem to be spot on.

 

The condition, or shape, of your fenders may be a factor. At one time I recall someone saying that trimming the front and rear plastic can add up to 10 mph to the top speed. Just look at your 500 from the front and look at the drag created by the front fenders.

 

it won't give u ten mph! thats crazy sure you'll be more aerodynamic but i doubt you'll gain that much speed. i've heard 2 mph and that seems more believeable...

 

Maxima, I really don't know what's around here; I just moved here from Northeast Mississippi about a year ago. I haven't found much in the way of places to ride for a sport or hi-po bike. There is Fun Wheeler Park in Longview and I've heard about LA. Dunes down around Alexandria. Do you know where that is? I've been thinking of carrying the old Quadzilla down there and sling a little dirt if it's worth the trip. I've got several buddies who are waiting for me to get the 'Zilla up and running..200xs, Warriors and the like.


LT500, I've several different sprockets and before I began this last rebuild, I was about to utilize a 15/38 and see what that does for top-end. I'm predicting triple digits can be attained fairly easily. I just don't know if I myself am up for it. We'll see in about a month. I too have the Bell bicycle speedo but found it to be fairly accurate on my bike. Which type do you have? What spread sheet system are you using? I've got Excel, but haven't really had the time to become familiar with it, yet. I know my Quadzilla will do a lot more than 70 m.p.h. because it was really hurt when it generated those numbers. A leak-down test landed in the serious red. On the order of 90% on the dealer's tester.

 

I can see a loss of around ten miles an hour with that stock plastic if you're at top speed. I had some cheap plastic fasteners holding my nose piece on. They let go on me from the drag that the stock fenders suffer from. They were flopping around a lot before they flew up around the bars. I might as well cut 'em because they don't stop nothing anyway.

According to the spreadsheet I have, 15/38 gearing at 7500 RPM with 22 inch tires will provide 104.76 mph. That same scenario with 20 inch tires gives 95.24 mph. I'm not sure my 500 could pull 5th with that gearing.
The spreadsheet is an Excel sheet. I didn't write it but I have verified the calculations to be correct. I actually found the sheet on a site by a guy that goes by "factoryphil". If you want I'd be happy to mail it to you.
I use a Specialized brand bike speedo. It remembers total distance, top speed, tracks riding time, tracks average speed, shows current speed with two clocks. I don't have it set up right; when I ride with my GPS, it does not track the same speed as the GPS. Though GPS is not the official authority, I trust it more than my bike speedo.

My fenders are not cut.
