did you get ripped on the '91???? heck no!
i have a '91 that i paid 2500 for and it rips. it had low hours on a stock bore, k&n, and FMF p&s and that's it... i've been building it since i bought it and now works front shocks are the next step for me.
my brother will be looking for a '91-92 this winter when the deals are at the right price. the rear suspension is better and the frame is gusseted more on the '91-92 than any other year. we're hoping for a deal on a clean one in that price range.
