Works shock ?
#1
I went over to the website a little bit ago and poked around at some prices on a few different shocks. I dont plan on racing (ever) but I do want a nice suspension that will allow me to take some pretty stout jumps and help make up for errors in my riding (I'm sure theres plenty). The ones in my budget were the Steeler fronts, double rate with rez's. I think they were $489 for the fronts on both the LT250 & 500 (not sure which one I'll be getting yet). Do these sound like they would match what I'm looking for? I do duning and a lot of desert riding, like to jump but I'm not talking 90 footers here (at least not yet). For the rear there was the Quadstars with rez's, they were $509 for both quads. If I end up with the 500 is this a better choice than the stock Showa rear, from what I hear its pretty good? If the 250 is the Quadstar any good?

Those prices you quoted seem a little high, call HiTech or HyTech ATV they have the best pricing I got the the non resi steelers for $259.00 for the pair, and they work great, never faid. I also got my stock rear shock rebuilt, new seals, oil, and Nitrogen for $80.00 and the back feals great now to. Remember the works rears are not adjustable for compression or rebouned the stock is.

These were prices pulled from their website, probably MSRP's and thats why they look high. I didnt know the rears werent adjustable for rebound and compression but arent they made based on your weight anyways?
I also had another question, I've been seeing all this talk about the triple rates. Whats the big deal with the triple vs. double and constant rates? Springs only change ride height and rebound correct? Why would they affect damping? This being said, what is the benefit of using a double over a constant and a triple over a double?
