Hi I got a Lt 250 Used back in April for my Brithday. Well it needed little Repairs. then all of a suden it would not start. "First of all i do not know a lot about Engines Only 14" My Grandpa Fixed it and Put. Jets,Rings and some other stuff. and he Said some thing like the thing is already bored .20 Now when it is Bored .20 how much speed/Horsepower did that add. And how Is the Relibty of a 1986 Lt 250. *Rember i know not a Thing about engines so bare with me* Also i would like to buy new Plastic. and a New seat/Pipe. What do you think is a Good Pipe? I looked in a Dennis kirk magzine and seen a DG Krome lite oval Sliencers. are them Good?

Thanks,
Andrew

OK DUDE. I also have a 86 LT250r, When i first got it, used, i could do 65 at best, oil and gas mixture does help to, Are you mixing the gas and the oil? YOu better be! i heard a 40:1 ratio gives you a little more speen but i am not sure. I recently had my toy bored 40 over and now i do 70. It does help. Not a whole lot! Yours will still go fast enough to kick your *** and kill you if you drive stupid! 20 over is great! Thats perfect! Go to dennis kirk online and you can type in the year and make of your toy (atv) and it will give you the best pipes and or silencers. It will give you the cheapest ones to! If you go to ebay you can get a new seat for cheaP! and maybe plastic! I have had my TOY for 2 or 3 years, but my engine is new! Depends on how your engin is! You may need to take it in to a shope, there may be stuff wrong inside! Hope this help, email me back with any questions !!

Well thanks for the Information you Provided! Almost forgot one more thing. the air box well The air filter is in there but The long rod thats comes out and you can Screw the Air Filter in well thats borke it is Held in there by a oil can. Man i would run 32:1 i know that the owners manual probably says 20:1, run it 32:1. If your air filter is missing the screw or the screw is broken the all you have to do is buy a K&N air fiter, it comes with a new screw not to mention the much better air filter. If the plastic cage behind the air filter is broken then your going to have to order a new cage. Also, if your just wanting to fast, one thing to do is to change sprocket sizes.

Run 32:1 THats perfect for my 86. for 5 gallons thats 20 oz of oil! and obvioulsy 4 oz for each 1 gallon. if you wana go nuts for 1 gallon run a 40:1 for more speed. But just run it fast with 32:1. GOODLUCK

Diferent oils call for diferent ratios. I run Golden Spectro in my 86 at 52:1 and it runs perfect. That is their recomended ratio. I ran this oil at this ratio for 7yrs in my old Honda 250R, and never had any oil related problems. With premix oil you should run the recomended ratio from the oil manufacture. When I got my first 2-stroke I ran petrolium based oil at the manufacturers recomended 20:1, But alot of the synthetics you run at a much leaner mix. When I first got the LT I ran the spectro at 42:1 because of the amount of motor work that had been done, it was too rich and smoked too much. When you run a synthetic there should be very little or no smoke.

I hope this helped, Danno

This isn't going to be a very popular answer but I suggest leaving your quad as-is. When you don't understand engines, adding a pipe is a mistake. This is especially true with a snowmobile since they run at high rpm for lengthy periods. A poorly jetted atv will last longer since they are on and off the throttle but it will eventually fail.
Why do you want more power. Are you such a perfect rider that you feel the quad's lack of power is the only thing holding you back? I'm willing to bet you aren't using the power you have to it's fullest potential yet. Power doesn't make you fast, practice makes you fast.
On the other hand, if your grandfather needs a past-time, maybe you should mod the heck out of the LT and bring it to him every other week for repairs.

02Raptor,

First off, I would like to say its cool that you grandpa is helping you. I'm just glad to hear of another Racer out there. And as far as the boring and horsepower, you wont see a big increase. There are much better pipes out there than the DG. Do a serch on pipes in the Suzuki forum. You might get some ideas there. The 86 LT250R is a very dependable quad and you should have many years of fun with it.

Danno
