Both the automatic and the manual have problems which require a recall. The standard may only need a locking washer on the crank or clutch. The automatic, however, will have to have the crank replaced. Ouch!

Sorry about the original name mistake but the rest of the information is true. The standard has a bolt that keeps comming loose which may only need a simple locking type washer to fix the problem. The autos will not be a simple fix. No dealers are supposed to be selling either one of these quads until all problems are worked out.

I just called my dealer today. He hasn't heard anything on the Vinson. He did know about a driveline problem with the Eiger. I talked with the salesman that sold me my Vinson. He said that the dealers have been told not to sell any more Eigers until they replace a bolt (he thought). He said a different grade of bolt needs to be installed to fix the problem.

If anyone has any reliable info, I'd like to know since I'm planning a long ride on my Vinson up to 9400 ft. elevation tomorrow.

Thanks,
Mark

Since the Vinson is only available in auto it sounds like it must be the Eiger that has been recalled. This is exactly the kind of thing that makes me hesitate buying a first year quad. It does make the choice between an Eiger and a Vinson a little eisier though.

Mark,
I didn't know that Ant Flat road went any farther North than Hardware Ranch. Do you just keep going past Hardware Ranch or what? Sound like a pretty good ride.

**First Time Readers** - this thread was originally called "Vinson Recalled", that's why the talk re: the Vinson.

Chainman,
You're right, Ant Flat stops at Hardware Ranch, but you can go on and on after that. There are all kinds of trails. The main dirt road past Hardware is called Laketown road and takes you to Laketown on Bear Lake. The dirt roads are really pretty well signed with mileage info too.

BTW, there are already about 70 elk bedded down in the foothills at Hardware Ranch. Smart animals.
