It should work, as long as you don't care about vibration. I don't know if a smaller 250 motor will put as much stress on a quad frame like a 500 would, but if it will I wouldn't recommend it. You should be able to do this though, I just saw an 86 LT250 with a CR500 motor in it and it didn't mention any crakcs in the frame. I would take the time to reinforce your frame though, no matter what motor you put in it, just because the old LT's crakced alot. If this isn't any help sorry.

I think I definitely will reinforce my frame and I will use rubber bushings all around.

 

OK and you will need to make custom motor mounts too. You prolly knew that though.

 

Be sure to gear a little lower than you would with a quad engine. The gear ratios in the bike trans. are alot higher than the quad trans.

There is a complete 86 bottom end on the classifieds for this site. I see cylnders and heads on Ebay all the time.

 

yeah, I think the bottom enf is in NJ, I'm in canada. that would be a lot more money than I want to spend...
